March 21 2026 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination – Community Event in Nelson
In 1966, the United Nations proclaimed March 21st the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination – a day where the international community comes together in an effort to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination.
Additionally, in 1989 the Government of British Columbia reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating racism in our province by proclaiming March 21 as the Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination in BC.
In recognition of the day, Intercultural Kootenays is hosting Living Room Conversations – an afternoon of conversation, reflection, creativity, and connection to explore what belonging means in our rural community, and how we can continue building a more inclusive future.
